Apparel Production Process

The apparel productions processes are the basics of the tracks behind a tee shirt that sells at retail. The first step was to design and sketching out the look of this tee. Then you make a pattern for your new design, but in this project, we traced the sloper for a size medium. Next, you usually would make the sample, but for this project, we used an already sewn tee. The tee shirt would then have to be measured and recorded down on the spec sheet. After you edit the line and decide what colors the tee shirts would be and what would appeal to customers, you have to buy the materials to make a vast majority of shirts and add the additional costing of this project we used purchase forms and cost sheets to keep all the money in order. Following, we graded the pattern pieces into smalls and larges and then laid them all out on a marking piece of paper. These are the step I took in the apparel pre-production process.
Out of all of the steps, I enjoyed editing the line and grading the pattern pieces the most. I enjoyed editing the line because you get to choice the colors of the shirt and pick out what you would like to put out for the world to see. I enjoyed grading the pattern pieces because you can see the sizes getting bigger and smaller in front of your eyes; I just found that fascinating how easily the sizes change.
The step I liked the least was the purchase order. I was confused with the quantity of the shirts and why we had to multiply the shirt amount and jersey, but in the end, it turned out alright. If I had to do the purchase order again it would not trip you up as much.
I hope to see myself is apparel productions. I would love to design the piece they are trying to sell or measuring the sample or editing the line. Editing the line would be cool to see what garments fit with each other or to nitpick the details of each piece. I enjoyed this projected and it showed the background information you forget about.
