In the middle of stressing about finishing up finals and starting reviews, I made this piece for a dear friend of mine. It was a piece that I used a bit of past subject. I wanted to have an escape from anxiety and reality for a bit. It was piece I can let my mind wander freely and my hand doing the talking.
I choose to not wet my brush at all during this piece. I wanted the globs of paint on and to blend them seamlessly. I went back over the shapes of squares throughout both of the canvases to ignite the color that I wanted to show. I kept rounding the squares, none of them were left with a sharp corner. I added in a few clouds to get across the horizon and sky perspective. I did not want the fact to be prominent, I just wanted it there in the background.
After an hour of letting myself handle the paint in a new way, I finished with a piece I really do love. Abstract art is something I would like to get my hands dirty in more, hopefully I question "How abstract can I go?" more often.
